Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does sugaring hurt?
Most people find that body sugaring is much less painful than waxing. The sugaring process causes slight numbing in the sugared area. This is normal, and most people do not experience any discomfort.
2. Who can be sugared?
Any person, who is at least 18 years old can be sugared. Any clients under the age of 18 need to have a consent form from a parent or guardian. We also require a parent or guardian to be present during the treatment.
3. What areas can be sugared?
Sugaring is able to remove unwanted hair from all areas of your body, forehead to toes, safely.
4. How often should I be sugared?
This depends on the area being sugared and how fast your hair grows (which depends on the season, medication, hormonal changes, and medical conditions). On average, time between sugaring sessions are four to six weeks. For facial sugaring, four weeks are preferred.
5. How long should the hair be?
For best results, hair growth should be between 1/16" and 1/4'' in length. If hair is longer than 1/4'', trimming is strongly recommended to avoid pain during hair removal. You may do the trimming at home or have it taken care of here at Cleopatra's Sugaring Salon for a surcharge.
6. When should I not get sugared?
Do not sugar if you are in cancer therapy, receiving chemotherapy, or radiation treatments. You also should not receive treatment if you are currently using Rx Accutane, Retin-A, Differin Gel, antibiotics, or any medications that cause skin sensitivity.
Avoid sugaring while using salicylic acid, Benzoyl peroxide, Obagi products, Glycolic acid, and any AHA peel, and/or any other oral or topical acne medications, as this treatment loosens the skins inter-cellular glue, and allows cells to separate and shed. Please check with your medical providers regarding potential skin sensitivities relating to your medications.
From two days before your menstrual cycle to two days after your menstrual cycle, you should avoid sugaring. Your body tends to be more sensitive due to the changes of hormones, which may make your treatment more painful. It is recommended to schedule an appointment after the end of your menstrual cycle.
7. Does Cleopatra's Sugaring Salon Allow Walk-ins?
Cleopatra's Sugaring Salon strongly encourages you to book online, schedule while checking out of your appointment, or by calling us. We also encourage clients to book at least 48 hours in advanced.
8. What if I am pregnant?
Most pregnant women still get Brazilian or bikini sugaring before giving birth. Please let us know if you are in your second trimester or further along when making the appointment. We will be glad to schedule more time to ensure maximum comfort.
9. Is Cleopatra's Sugaring Salon employees licensed or specially trained in sugaring hair removal?
